I have decided Tuesday, December 1 will be the official release date of Recording in a Living Room. While the recording part is done, I have a few other things I'd like to also finish up before then. So, check back on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 to download the entire record - free of charge!

In the meantime, the following song is available to download or stream. It will be track number 7 on the album and is entitled "Stories for Tabloids." If I were to release a proper single, this is the song that would be it, hence me releasing it before the rest of the album. You can also watch a video of me performing it, found below. To download the song, just right click the below link and choose "Save Link As" (or some similar phrase dependent on your browser), then choose a location on your computer to save it to. You can also just click the link to stream it in your browser.

Not unleashing the album quite yet, but I've got another new video of a song from the album. This song's called Stories for Tabloids. I'm performing this song in a fairly different manner than how it's presented on the album.

I've finished the vast majority of everything on my current to-do list. I'm pretty certain I've got a finalized tracklist and sequence, and barring any last minute changes, the songs are all finished.

Here's a video of me performing one of the songs, entitled What if it Happened?

I finished up the last song tonight. At this point I'm putting together a laundry list of changes and modifications I need to make to old and new songs before they're ready. Right now, you can expect the following songs to appear:

Hello
Goodnight
Goodbye
Twice
What If It Happened?
Stories for Tabloids
Middle Age
Ode to the Drunks
Winter Legs
Will We Make It 95?

That's not the order of the songs, but I'm 99% sure they'll all appear on the record in some order.

Recording in a Living Room was written and recorded on and off between January 2009 and November 2009. All songs were recorded in my living room, bedroom, bathroom, and closet. A little bit of electric guitar feedback was recorded at my parents' house.

I kept things very simple using GarageBand on an iMac and MacBook Pro for recording and mixing. Beyond that I used some guitars, a keyboard, and a First Act harmonica in the key of C. I also used an empty beer bottle and a can of Diet Coke.

My goal is to have everything completed by December. At that point, I plan on releasing the album here, online, for free, under a Creative Commons license. If you want to make a donation I will provide the opportunity for donations via PayPal.

See you soon.
