About Me
Name: Mike Huston
Location: Ames, Iowa
Education: I will obtain a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Iowa State University come August 2006. From April to July 2006 I will be studying at the University of Dortmund in Dortmund, Germany.
A bit about me: I listen to a lot of music (live and not live) and play guitar as a hobby. I also play a little piano but since I don't own one, I'm not very good at it. As I've gotten older, my musical tastes have actually expanded, now encompassing just about anything with the exception of rap and really heavy metal. I'll throw a list of bands I listen to frequently at the bottom of this here page.
I also mess around with computers quite a bit. They play a vital role in my area of study, afterall. For a more in-depth look at my computer experience, please view the "Computer Skills" link to the left.
Outside of music and computers I enjoy a number of social engagements, whether it's as simple as just hanging out with some friends, or being active and playing sports such as golf, disc golf, basketball, racquetball, bowling, or pool.
Web design: I got into Web design as a freshman in high school and since that time it has always been a hobby of mine. I have done a number of Web pages both for myself and for others. I prefer writing my Web pages using nothing but Notepad and good, old-fashioned HTML. That being said, I do have experience using Macromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe GoLive CS2. At the current time I am focusing on learning more about advanced Web design techniques using CSS, MySQL, and PHP.
Music I enjoy: Weezer, Thrice, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, The Beatles, Oasis, The Space Twins, Radiohead, Nada Surf, Sondre Lerche, Owen, The Get Up Kids, The New Amsterdams, Brand New, The Impossibles, Death Cab for Cutie, Cowboy Mouth, Ash, Botch, At the Drive-In, Murder By Death, The Rentals, Foo Fighters, Ultimate Fakebook, Slowreader, Tom Petty, Self, The Faint, Goldenboy, The Postal Service, Minus the Bear, These Arms Are Snakes, Pedro the Lion, The Mountain Goats, and undoubtedly many more that I can't currently think of.
